Real voices, real growth
See how therapy has made a meaningful difference in the
lives of our clients, shared in their own words.
I can honestly say Stephen has been a Godsend me for in the most difficult season of my life. He has navigated a very complex situation with sensitivity and thoughtfulness. I particularly value his approach of working within the whole family structure and looking at how behaviour patterns work and can be broken if unhealthy. He feels like a very safe space and has such a depth of experience that he's been able to deal with not only my marital issues but my child's mental health at the same time. I consider him our family therapist and have recommended him to several friends. He also challenges me, but with kindness and in areas that I need it. He looks beyond the surface and can read the room like no one else I know!
Therapy is extremely expensive and I fully support Stephen in his venture to offer funded therapy to families who need it most. We have experienced ongoing crisis for an extended period and the sessions with Stephen have felt like a little oasis in the middle of the storm.

No one ever ‘plans’ to need intervention, therapy or support through life’s stormy seas. But when you find yourself in the midst of that storm - the one you never thought would be yours - therapy is a life buoy, thrown to help anchor you, navigate you towards calmer seas and offer hope in the middle of difficulty.
This has certainly been my experience. Without the support of therapy my navigating of the storm would have been overwhelming, closed minded and lonely.
The work I have done with Stephen could never truly be represented in words or payment.
The impact ripples out from me to my children, family, community, my colleagues and the world around me. Walking through life’s storms in a healthy way, one session, one person at a time builds healthy, more resilient, more hopeful societies. To have had the means to access this support has quite literally been life changing for me and my family.
Stephen Derrick has worked with my family over the course of several years both as a family unit or with us as individuals.
He has helped us to find a more positive path through some of the most difficult and often distressing episodes of our lives.
His support has enabled us to come to terms with the mental health issues that we have encountered, developing a better understanding of their complexities and the impact that those issues have had on us as a family and individually. With professionalism and empathy he has encouraged us to address, explore and move on from painful realities. With the right amount of challenge from him, we have been able to adapt, developing other perspectives and coping strategies. I can honestly say that we have learnt a lot about ourselves as individuals. And, most importantly, we have learnt how to move forward more optimistically with our lives, developing resilience and maintaining more positive and supportive relations within the family. His support has been invaluable - I dread to think where we would be now had we not been able to access and benefit from his outstanding therapeutic input."
